Identification

The HSD GATE Program presently serves children in grades 3-12.  A child may be identified for the program by a teacher nominating a student for GATE assessment based on student academic achievement and gifted and talented traits.

The Hawthorne School District utilizes the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)  to determine official identification as a GATE student.  The criteria for qualifying is 90% and  higher.
