Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Academy

AVID- Advancement Via Individual Determination
AVID is an academic, regularly scheduled, elective program based on writing as a tool for learning, inquiry method, and collaborative grouping. AVID strategies will be used across the core curriculum of classes. The three main components of this program are academic instruction, tutorial support, and motivational activities.

AVIDTrack
AVID is a study skills class designed to assist students who are most underrepresented in the UC system toward college acceptance. Students applying for AVID have a CST score between 310 and 350 in ELA, and a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5.

TWBI- Two Way Bilingual Immersion

  • Our students become fluent and literate in two of the world’s most widely spoken languages (English & Spanish)
  • Students are given both academic and social skills needed to become leaders in a multilingual world
  • Students learn to appreciate their community by fostering cultural exchange and celebrating diversity
  • The study of two languages develops high levels of confidence and self-esteem
  • Learning comes alive when students explore the beauty of both languages through literature and song
