About PVMS Fine Arts Academy:
The system of formal academic instruction at PVMS is undergirded by an intense arts curriculum.  Students who score 350 and up in the English Language Arts CST (STAR) may choose from the exploratory fine arts programs listed on the left.

Mission of the Fine Arts Academy:
At PVMS, we believe that the arts have the power to engage, transform and contribute to the development of intellectual and creative students.  Students will be able to choose to be part of the school’s band or orchestra, play the piano, be on the yearbook & journalism team or have a broader art and music experience.

AVID Track—Advancement Via Individual Determination:
Students applying for the AVID track in 7th and 8th grade have a CST score between 330 and 350 in ELA and a GPA between 2.0 to 3.5.  AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

AVID Support:
AVID is an academic, regularly scheduled elective in the 7th and 8th grade based on writing as a tool of learning, inquiry method and collaborative grouping. AVID strategies will be used across the core curriculum of classes.  The three main components of the program are academic instruction, tutorial support, and motivational activities.
