Attendance Support

Hawthorne School District is introducing Attendance Support, a new way to help families stay connected and informed about their child’s attendance.

What is Attendance Support?

Attendance Support is a communication system that provides families with timely attendance updates through postcards, letters, text messages, and email notifications. The system is designed to strengthen communication between home and school and support regular student attendance.

Features

Attendance Support provides real-time attendance updates by text and email, with messages available in more than 90 languages. Notifications are sent directly to the phone number and email address on file, and no login or account setup is required. Messages will also come from a unique phone number so families can easily recognize them.

How It Works

Beginning September 4, parents and guardians will receive a monthly postcard showing their child's total number of absences, including both excused and unexcused. Postcards are sent on the first Friday of each month.

In addition to postcards, families will receive attendance letters when a student has accumulated 3 or more absences, 5 or more absences, or is designated as chronically absent, meaning the student has missed 10% of the school year.

Families may also receive real-time attendance updates by text or email to help keep them informed throughout the school year.

Why It Matters

Attendance Support helps families stay informed, strengthens communication between home and school, and supports consistent student attendance.
