HSD School-Based Health Centers

Our services are available to all adults, teens and children in Hawthorne, regardless of their insurance status.

We offer a comprehensive range of services at both locations including vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, and K-12 required vaccines), sports and general physicals, acute medical care, mental health support, and ongoing care for conditions like asthma, diabetes, and obesity.  We also offer health education and health insurance enrollment support at York School.

No, you do not need health insurance to receive care at our clinic. We welcome Medi-Cal, Covered California enrollees, and uninsured individuals. For non-students who are insured, we accept Medi-Cal, Medicare or managed care plans if VFC is listed as your PCP. We also can provide assistance with health insurance enrollment or PCP switches, in person at York School or over the phone at (310) 664-7509.

We are open at York School on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed 12 – 1 p.m for lunch).  We are open at Zela Davis School on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Yes, walk-ins are welcome and will be accommodated as we have availability.  However, to ensure you receive timely service, making an appointment is encouraged.

Please bring any available health records, your child's vaccination history, and any health insurance cards if you have insurance coverage. If you are seeking health insurance enrollment support in person at York School, please bring identification and any other documents that might assist with your application.

Yes, we offer mental health support including counseling and therapy services to help with emotional and mental well-being.

Parents or guardians are required to accompany their children, unless the services are ones where teens can legally consent for themselves.

Venice Family Clinic provides services to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. We offer a Sliding Fee Discount Program to all eligible patients. Eligibility and fees are is based on income and family size only.

Appointment length varies, depending on what type of appointment it is.

We offer services in English and Spanish. We can arrange for interpreter services for most other languages.
