Spelling Bee 2014

On March 5, 2014, the Hawthorne School District held its 8^th Annual Spelling Bee for students in grades 4-6 at Ramona Elementary School.  Twenty contestants representing seven elementary schools and three middle schools competed on stage in front of an audience comprised of friends, family, teachers and administrators.  The students who competed in the district spelling bee were all winners of their classroom spelling bees and also winners or runner-ups in their school spelling bees.   

After eight rounds, Tyler Dixon, a 5^th grader at Zela Davis Elementary School, won the competition. Tyler will go on to compete in the Los Angeles County Spelling Bee in Alhambra on March 26^th.  The Hawthorne School District is proud of all of the contestants and wishes Tyler the very best at the county bee!
