Pet Extravaganza 2017
The sixth annual Hawthorne Family and Pet Extravaganza was held on the grounds of Kornblum Elementary School Saturday, September 23rd, 2017. The event which benefited the students of the Hawthorne School District was very well attended. All of the District's schools were represented. The schools featured an array of items for sale along with carnival style games which those attending took part in. The extravaganza, originated by Hawthorne School District Board Member Luciano Aguilar, allowed the school community to join together and provided a fun day for students, families and the community at large. There were booths educating Hawthorne's children about the exciting role dogs can play in people's lives.
School performances that the crowds applauded were The Eucalyptus School Koala Cheer Team, The Ramona School All-Star Dancers, The Folklorico Group, as well as The Prairie Vista Middle School Choir and Dance Group. The Centinela Valley High School District was represented by The HHS Dance Company and The Leuzinger High School Band. The American Diving Dogs Competition was a hit with the crowds throughout the day. This year's Extravaganza was concluded by performances from Mariachi Herencia Musical and a headlining show by Banda La Maravillosa. The Banda has toured the nation and played for sold out crowds at the Forum, Pico Rivera Sports Arena and Dodger Stadium. An exciting raffle prize drawing closed the event with winners taking home some great prizes.
The District thanks all who attended and took part to make the 2017 Family and Pet Extravaganza a success.
